My winter lean-to shelter

Above is the first steps of my winter lean to shelter. It is 6 ft long and 10ft. tall. I used one cross member for the top. Next was the outer leaning poles, I used thicker logs for those because thats what I attach my bed frame to. It helps with the rigidity of the bed not being bouncy!!! Then I put 3 thinner ones in the middle and tied it all together at the bed frame and at the top.... I built this at a place that people have done dumping and found some wire hangers and used some of those to help tie it together ...

Here are the tools I used 1 hatchet, 1 spade shovel, 1 pocket knife, Paracord. I could tie it all together with thin strong tree roots but that would add alot more work, time and energy, but its possible!

Now I have cut and layed the bed logs and cleared out debris from underneath...

Next is the cross members.

Side framing.

I wedged in logs on the bottom of the bed logs, helps make it very rigid and helps hold in heat from the heated rocks that keep the bed warm at night... They dont last all night but its good still good stuff.

Then I went around the bottom with dirt, debris and needles for maximum insulation.

Now time for thatching some green to the roof and sides.... NOTE: The erea I built this in had alot of down trees, so... I used them but in a real survival situation I would chop down live trees what ever I had to to survive. Also, I would not build one this fancy unless I planned on staying there a while..

Now the monogamous task of thatching evergreen limbs to the roof. I could probably put twice as much on there! I would if this was a real survival sittuation.

Now that the thatching is done I ziptied the larger branches to the frame, it helped hold it all together wonderfully....This Thing is hard as nails!! Also layed a bed of needles for comfort.

Now time for a little rest and relaxation.
